Avoidable skin damage and inappropriate skin care are two of the most common reasons behind large pores. Large pores make your skin look older, less smooth, and tend to amplify any imperfections one may have. We do not all, however, have countless thousands of dollars to go to an expensive dermatologist and subject ourselves to the latest chemical peel or other chemical solution for improving the look and feel of skin.
It is not necessary for you to submit yourself to a chemical peeling of the face in order to improve the look and feel of your skin, as well as to reduce the size of your pores. There are a number of simple ways to help reduce the size of pores and improve the tone and quality of skin without having to leave your home.
It isn't necessary to undergo expensive and scary procedures to get healthier looking skin. Common sense and a good skin care routine are part and parcel to healthier skin and smaller pores.
What follows are some of the best ways to improve the health of your skin and work towards reducing the visible size of your pores, once and for all.
Remove Your Makeup
This might seem like common sense, but in today's busy world, it is easy to just fall into bed and turn on the tube after a long day in the office. However, sleeping with makeup on your face is a very bad idea. The oils and other substances in the makeup clog the pores, which can lead to breakouts, as well as an enlarging of the pores.
Moisturizing the Skin
Dry skin is unhealthy skin and it will tend to look that way. It is imperative that you have a decent moisturizing regime. Every night after you have finished with your skin care routine, use a light moisturizer as the last step of the routine. This will keep the skin hydrated, which helps to improve its look, feel, and tone, also it is one of the steps to reduce upper lip wrinkles.
Use Warm Water
While cold water may be refreshing, evidence shows that warm water is actually better for the skin on the face. This is why many dermatologists recommend washing your face with warm water, using a soft, non-abrasive cleansing cloth. This allows you to easily remove makeup, dirt, and oil, without “shocking” your face with cold water.
Exfoliation
Part of the skin's natural regeneration process necessitates the “sloughing off” of dead skin cells. We aid the process when we wash our faces, but we need to help the process along a little more than that. Exfoliation is a great way to get rid of all that dead skin and reveal the healthy, youthful skin underneath.
Exfoliating can be done many different ways. There are tons of different facial washes and masks that use salt or other gritty substances as a means to help remove dead and unhealthy skin from the face. You can also use a baby brush to exfoliate your face while it is dry. It is important to be gentle and not go overboard with exfoliation as you can accidentally remove healthy skin cells if you are too rough.
Steam Therapy
This is a simple way to help keep your skin hydrated and looking young and fit. This can be done in any kitchen and does not require complicated equipment. All you need is a bowl, boiling water, an herbal tea bag, a towel, and maybe some essential oils, though they are not necessary. Simply steep the tea in the warm water for a few minutes. Placing a towel over your head, put your face near the steaming bowl (make sure it is not too hot, you do not want to burn your face or damage your skin).
Let the steam work itself into your face for about ten minutes. The steam not only hydrates the skin, but it loosens up dirt, oil, and other debris which can then easily be removed from the skin.
It may be surprising to many that much of the damage we do to our faces and pores can be avoided and even fixed. This can be achieved without subjecting yourself to painful, expensive chemical peels. Developing a new face care routine that utilizes the tips described above is the easiest way to quickly see an improvement in the tone and quality of your skin. Removing makeup, using warm water, moisturizing, and even using the occasional facial mask are easy ways that you can really improve your skin.
If you are looking for ways that you can reduce the size of your pores at home, look no further than these tips described above. These are time-honored and proven tips that have stood the test of time. Having healthier, younger-looking skin does not have to be rocket science. It turns out, it can all be fixed by having a high quality skin care regimen that promotes the youthful appearance of skin.
